People have been asking what ReRave is, so we figured it was time to share a sneak peak of what we’ve been to! Be sure to keep up with news and upcoming release info on the Step Evolution site. As you can tell, We are extremely excited to be involved with this project and look forward to innovating the industry. ReRave is trademarked and Patent Pending.
So, it look like JuBeat for feets. Yeap, it was one of my idea what dance pad shoud looks like. JuBeat (and EBA, Osu!) are fun, why dont create game ale for feets.
And its even better idea to make ports for mobile phone. Touch/step game could be interesting idea to implement.
Well, thats for 1st video. Keep us posted 🙂
Hi Xsoft – The method of display and core game elements to ReRave are dramatically different than the title that you mentioned. More information will be revealed in time, for now we are only showing a teaser. Thank you for the comment!
A pad that is not limited to traditional arrow placement…this may allow for almost infinite possibilities. I have to wonder how much of a margin for error there is for actually…well, hitting the beats.
I am super excited to play this XD finally, an awesome new rhythm game I don’t have to go to other countries to play!
Couple of questions though. Do you plan on bringing ReRave to the arcade and/or consoles? Also, is ZiGZaG going to be making a return? 😀
I hope that the final product doesn’t use a mouse interface (so jumps and stuff are doable).
Actually, it reminds me of DJ Max Technika, but I’m sure there will be more twists to come.
Will it be possible to create our own “step charts” for ReRave?
Thanks for the comments guys!
@Sixnineteen Anything is possible I suppose? Generally we enter into these projects with “the sky has no limits” complex. Who knows about ZZ… You will be happy to know we have multiple versions planned and home/arcade are part of our release plans.
@FSX Do not worry, the game is actually not limited to a single “computer mouse/icon” Our prototype is currently using this interface, but it’s our plans to allow up to 5 points of contact! Jumps are already possible and there are some cool details we will reveal about that element later. Bottom line – Do not worry, more than 1 point of contact will happen.
@Nathan I can assure you that ReRave gameplay is NOT like the “Technika” interface. If it was we’d be using horizontal scrolling and the user would be making continuous clockwise motions around the floor surface! 🙂 You will be happy to know that we are “attempting” to have edit suport for users. As with any project we have a list of features that we are working through and trying to get as many into version1 as possible. We’ll let you know as we reveal more details in the future.
putting in my thoughts on the rhythm game resemblance: I’d say it’s like DDR/ITG/any dance game mixed with Ouendan/EBA/osu! and a touch of jubeat and Technika. a delicious recipe to be sure (I’m hungry okay)
also with your current prototype, is it possible to use shoes? do they affect the detection at all?
@ edit support – Awesome news. With the birth of pumpproedits and itgedits it seems that edits are finally making a comeback (if they ever were around… I certainly haven’t seen many/any around), so it’d be awesome to have the option for re rave aswell.
I’d be keen to see if hand movements/presses are involved too. I mean, it might make it hard for the system to track 3 or 4 movements but I’m sure you guys can do it 🙂 (lol bracketing jokes)
@Sixnineteen: Glad you are liking it so far! There are a lot of additional elements that you haven’t seen yet and I suspect you’ll love those as well! To answer your question: YES, you can absolutely use your shoes to play. We only used socks in the example because it was comfy! 🙂
@Alex: Indeed, we are doing our best to make sure that players have the ability to expand game play and create they’re own super tricks too. We’ll be sure to reveal more about how all the edit stuff will work MUCH later. Keep an eye out!
@Kyle I have to say it does look amazing. You are right about it not being the same as Technika but if I had to pick the closest game it reminds me of, that would be it. I never got used to that scrolling bar…
On the topic of user generated content… Nobody – and I mean nobody – would still be playing the ITG machine down at my local arcade if it weren’t for custom song support. So, I’m hoping you guys keep that in mind for ReRave 🙂
Thanks for the shout out Alex S. I already have a domain bought for ReRave’s edits actually, so I’m ready to get started when it’s time.
Of course, this may end up being my hardest project yet due to the way the “arrows” appear to be shown. I can’t help but think of osu! here: http://osu.ppy.sh/ I don’t think I’ve found a chart preview program for anything like this yet. Would it be possible to make? Perhaps. I just don’t quite know how yet.
Nathan: in this day and age, it’s probably…very difficult to get away with custom song support. I would not expect custom songs to be up right away. Perhaps you can at least convince your friends who use the ITG machine to play with edits more?
At this point, it’s a waiting game for all of us. We will see what happens when more information is released.
Oops, commented on the old post. Anyway, don’t forget the bar!
@Barholder: considering that you are potentially expected to move and twirl in a variety of ways, I don’t know if a bar would be appropriate here. Then again, I could be mistaken here.
Not everything has to be similar to how it was in previous games. That should be remembered.
I could see this getting REALLY intense. 😀
Wow, this looks like it could get really intense. Just a shame that it probably won’t come out anytime soon.
Thanks for the comments guys. Keep them coming!
The ReRave site will be live soon.
I’ve very interested to see the arcade implementation of ReRave. There was an aspect of DDR/ITG that allowed spectators to easily follow along and give props after an expert song was finished. Will there be a similar level of skill involved here? Not only will it be fun to play, but will it create a positive public opinion from spectators? I’m guessing because this game will be more like a freestyle it will look awesome to watch people play. I could be awesome at the iPhone version, but I want to play with other people and have others respect my style and score.
